Keeping it simple

So now you have your idea, and a target audience who have a problem that really needs solving. What now? I hear you ask!

Many founders I speak to think that the first thing they need to do is Register a Business Name, set up an ABN (Australian Business Number) Purchase GSuite, Get a subscription to a CRM.

But let me stop you there. These are all nice things to have down the line, but let’s not run before we can walk.

Here are a few things that I recommend doing before any of the above:

  1. Find the perfect (or close to perfect) business name. obviously it’s a good idea to check both the ABN register and Domain registers. These combined will let you know if your dream business name is even available or purchasable.

  2. When buying a business name, don’t go straight for the .com.au version (for this you will need an ABN) start with an alternative, .com; .co; .org; .ai etc. there are so many to choose from, but pick one which will represent your business.

  3. Set up your business as a sole trader from day one. This will save you money and complexity.

  4. Find an awesome website builder (in fact do this before you purchase a domain) then everything will be easily synced to your website, even your email address - super awesome hack to save you money on a gsuite subscription.

That’s it! Boom! You have the ability to share what you do with a potential audiance and it hasn’t cost you an arm and a leg!

Now it’s time for the fun bit… building!
